No visits to Paris would be complete without an ascent to the summit of the Eiffel Tower. Named after its designer, the tower is the tallest building in Paris. Erected between 1887 and 1989, using as material puddle iron, the tower was the entrance arch for the Universal Exposition and a landmark to celebrate the centennial of the French Revolution. Today, the monument is the most visited monument all around the world. At the end of 2007, it had totaled 236.445.812 visitors.
