Moulin Rouge

Near Montmartre, in the Paris red light district Pigaille - the Moulin Rouge is a cabaret built in 1889 by Joseph Oller, which still attracts - with its turn of the century decor - adult visitors from all around the world. Moreover, Edith Piaf, Frank Sinatra, Josephine Baker have performed within its walls. Can-can is the major performing art at Moulin Rouge, a respectable dance, which had been adapted at the end of the 1800 to entertain male clientele. Today the Moulin Rouge is not considered as being an upper class brothel anymore. The place has been immortalized within numerous Henri de Toulouse Lautrec posters and even within several movies, staging Zsa Zsa Gabor and Nicole Kidman.
